Some links on this site earn us a commission. Here is exactly which ones, how much it changes what you pay, and what it is not allowed to change.
Who pays us, and who does not
We list three US sellers. Two of them have an affiliate agreement with us. One does not.
- Giftcards.com — affiliate agreement, through Rakuten Advertising.
- eGifter — affiliate agreement, through AWIN.
- CardCash — no affiliate agreement. We earn nothing when you buy from them, and they are listed, ranked and shown exactly like the other two.
That last line is the one worth checking us on. A comparison site that only lists the sellers who pay it is an advertisement wearing a comparison’s clothes.
How it works
When you click Buy now on a seller we have an agreement with, the link passes through that seller’s advertising network. The network sets a cookie so that if you buy something, the sale is credited to us and the seller pays us a small share of it.
The commission comes out of the seller’s margin, not your total. You pay the same price you would pay going to them directly. There is no Felix Day markup, because there is no mechanism for one — we never handle the transaction.
Where there is no agreement, the link goes straight to the seller, unwrapped, and nobody pays us anything.
What money is not allowed to change
Paying us does not move a seller up a comparison. Offers are ordered by what the card actually costs you. A seller that pays us nothing can and does appear above one that pays.
We also never mix new cards and resold cards into one ranked list, whoever is paying. They come with different terms, and a lower price attached to different terms is only a better deal if you can see the difference.
This is a constraint we have chosen and it costs us money. If comparison order were for sale, this site would be worth nothing to you, and we would rather it did not exist than exist like that.
One referral link, separately
Our announcement about the CardCash partnership contains a referral link that gives you $5 off a first order and credits us if you use it. It is labelled as one on that page. It is not an affiliate agreement and it does not affect how CardCash is ranked anywhere on this site.
How to check any of this
Open any product page. The disclosure sits under the offers, on every page, whether or not the sellers shown on it pay us. Follow a Buy now link and watch where it goes — you will land on the seller’s own domain before you are asked for anything.
If you ever find a cheaper offer ranked below a more expensive one, that is a bug or a broken promise, and either way we want to hear about it: [email protected].
